- Whisk together flour, sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. Pour over melted butter—do not stir!
- Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the batter, then scatter chopped pecans on top.
- Pour boiling water gently over the entire mixture, avoiding stirring.
- Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
- Cool slightly before serving.
