Ingredients

For the Beef Mixture
  • 1 pound Ground beef You can substitute with turkey for a lighter option.
  • 1 medium Onion Diced; consider using shallots for a milder taste.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced; fresh is best, but garlic powder can work in a pinch.
For the Pasta
  • 2 cups Elbow macaroni Feel free to use whole wheat or gluten-free pasta.
For the Sauce
  • 15 ounces Tomato sauce Crushed tomatoes or marinara can make great substitutes.
  • 1 cup Beef broth or water Vegetable broth can be used for a vegetarian option.
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning You can use fresh herbs like basil and oregano.
For the Topping
  • 1 cup Shredded cheese Optional; try mozzarella or cheddar for a classic finish.

Equipment

  • Large pot

Method

How to Make One Pot Beefaroni
  1. Heat a large pot over medium heat. Add the ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic. Cook until the beef is fully browned and the onions are translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Pour in the tomato sauce and beef broth or water. Sprinkle in the Italian seasoning and stir to combine. Add the elbow macaroni, ensuring it’s mostly submerged in the liquid. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
  3. Cover the pot and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Once the pasta is tender and the sauce has thickened, stir in the shredded cheese if desired. Allow it to melt smoothly into the beefaroni.
