Method

How to Make a Korean Ground Beef Bowl
  1. Rinse 1 cup of rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine with 2 cups of water in a pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes until the water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let sit for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
  2. Alternatively, add the rinsed rice and water to your rice cooker and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  3. For a speedy option, combine rinsed rice and water in the Instant Pot, seal the lid, cook on high pressure for 3 minutes, and allow for a natural release.
  4. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef. Break it apart as it cooks and brown until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Add the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant and slightly golden.
  6. Stir in soy sauce, sesame oil, and chopped green onions, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. Allow to simmer for a couple of minutes.
  7. Spoon a generous amount of cooked rice into a bowl, top with the seasoned ground beef mixture, and add colorful vegetables on top or around.
  8. Optionally, top with a fried egg for extra richness.
