How to Make Buttery Shrimp Stuffed Croissants
  1. Melt butter: Heat 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, stirring constantly to release its fragrant aroma.
  2. Cook shrimp: Add 8 ounces of chopped shrimp, seasoning with salt and pepper. Sauté until the shrimp turns opaque and just pink, about 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. Mix filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened 1/4 cup cream cheese, 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or Gruyère cheese, the cooked shrimp, and 2 tablespoons chopped chives. Stir until fully incorporated and creamy.
  4. Prepare croissants: Using a sharp knife, carefully slice each croissant lengthwise. Ensure not to cut completely through, and gently open them to form a pocket that will hold the filling.
  5. Stuff croissants: Evenly distribute the shrimp filling into the croissants, stuffing generously into each pocket, making sure they are filled to the brim.
  6. Egg wash (optional): Beat 1 large egg and brush it over the tops of the stuffed croissants for a glossy, inviting finish.
  7. Bake: Place the croissants on a baking sheet and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the croissants are beautifully golden.
  8. Garnish: Remove them from the oven and sprinkle with extra chives or parsley for that fresh, vibrant touch. Serve warm for the best experience!
